First, full disclosure. I’m going to be doing some work for Arthur’s Smoothies. Second, I only work with brands where I truly believe in their product. And Arthur’s Smoothies is a great fit. After taking a close look at their ingredient list and nutrition facts panel, I’ve come to the conclusion that if you’re choosing a juice or fruit smoothie, Arthur’s is the best one out there.
While each one-cup serving (250mL) counts as 2 servings of fruit, unlike other juices and fruit smoothies, Arthur’s Smoothies have between 8 and 11 essential nutrients that come from natural fruit. Most orange and apple juices have about 1-3 nutrients. Other smoothies have about 5 or so nutrients. Why the difference? Arthur’s uses 100% fruit juice and purees, not from concentrate and there’s no added sugar or water. As well, there are *no* additives and *no* preservatives. That’s why you can find Arthur’s Smoothies in the refrigerated section at your local grocery store. It’s fresh and as close to real fruit as you can get. Most of the smoothie flavours also have 2-4 grams of fibre (missing in most juices).
Don’t get me wrong. It’s still important to eat real fruit, but when most Canadians aren’t getting the recommended 7 to 10 servings of Vegetables and Fruit, it’s okay to enjoy a fruit smoothie as way to meet those recommendations.
Here’s something else I like: Arthur’s Smoothies was started in Canada and locally source most of their fruit.
Update: The TV spot I did for Arthur’s Smoothies aired on Food Network.
